We are ALL kids at heart! What better way to enjoy being a kid than playing on the playground? Unfortunately, there are many children who cannot play on typical city and county playgrounds because they are not accessible for all to play on or are not designed to accommodate children with a variety of disabilities. As a result, many children are isolated within their communities because of the struggles associated with a disability. |
Many children with disabilities have a simple wish of being able to play on a playground with other kids and just have fun ... something that many of us take for granted. At Freedom Memorial Park, a special portion of the park will be dedicated to children with disabilities providing them with an extraordinary playground designed with their unique needs in mind.
The playground, known as the “In His Image Children’s Miracle Playground”, will enable children of all ages who have long dreamed of playing on jungle gyms, soaring on swings and gliding down slides the opportunity to do just that! Equipped with modified playground equipment, wheelchair accessible ramps, special surfacing for wheelchair access, handholds as well as rail supports, the “In His Image Children’s Miracle Playground” will bring much joy and happiness to children who otherwise might not have such an opportunity to experience a playground to its fullest.
